| Mount Misery and Sweet Hollow Road have long been rumored hot spots of paranormal activity. The stories vary widely and you can find some of them here. Aside from our own research, the members of the Long Island Paranormal Research Group made two separate visits to the area in hopes of finding some real truth behind some of the rumors. Although there were some interesting results and investigation is still ongoing, there are not yet any definite answers. | ||||
| Arriving at Sweet Hollow Road one night around 10:30 the members of the L.I.P.I. split into two groups. While there seemed to be no abnormal temperature readings or EMF readings one team did experience trouble with a compass. Tim, one of the members walked underneath the overpass bridge on Sweet Hollow Road with the compass and the needle started fluctuating wildly. Some members also reported getting radio interference while also under the bridge. An attempt to find natural causes was inconclusive. As they moved along to Mount Misery Road they decided to take a stop just south of the parkway. Again the teams split up, one team continuing to monitor any readings over by the cars and the other group entered the woods. Almost immediately one member by the cars came over the radio to say that they were getting Morse code over the walkie talkies. It was only coming in on one radio though they were all tuned to the same channel. The second group had also continued to get odd spurts of interference since the trip to Sweet Hollow Road and this interference also seemed to pick up. Molson, one of the members of L.I.P.I. began asking questions into a cassette recorder and during this process a voice came over the radio saying "There are more of us here". This was not identified as having come from any of the investigators. There was yet another bout of Morse code as well, this time on a different radio but still not broadcasting to the other walkie talkie's tuned to the same channel. The wind was also swirling in a rather eerie way during the time spent in the woods. Just before the rain started coming down there was another transmission that sounds a bit like "Go" but the first word sounds cut off and some members suppose it might have actually been "Don't go" Upon a second investigation however we were interfered by a group of foul mouthed people talking on the same channel which not only lends doubt to previous findings in that the voices could have been just interference, but it also prevented further research on that channel. When the questions were again asked there seemed to be no response while in the same woods but there was one brief transmission of Morse which sounded like "DE". Investigation and field reports are still forthcoming so stay tuned. |
