I am pretty sure this is a remake of a TV mini series from the mid eighties. I saw the preview and meant to watch it but forgot, looks pretty cool though.

The original was awesome, terrible acting with a lead role of a black guy who volunteered to act as stereotypical as humanly possible LOL.
