The family who owns this house has an adult daughter who was seriously injured in a car accident. As a result of the accident she suffers severe brain damage.

They went to Disney World once and noticed the she responded positively to the "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride. So, when they got home they began decorating their own yard with nautical ornaments. The yard has nautical decorations and ships from almost every legend, and era from Vikings to Jaws.

It is also said that the neighbors are angry because of all the visitors and attention brought to the neighborhood by the display. We did run into one neighbor walking a dog and asked, "How long has this house been this way?" She replied, "To long!!!"
