Asylums

For many years Suffolk County had four large state hospitals practically right next to each other. They were the Kings Park State Hospital, Central Islip State Hospital, Pilgrim State Hospital and Edgewood State Hospital. Each had its own infrastructure which included fire and police stations, employee housing, warehouses, train stations, power plants, and farms. They were almost completely self sufficient. Here you will see the abandoned ruins left from this era.
