Bronco Charlie's Restaurant was in business for many years. In 1930 it was only a small log cabin that served ice cream eggs, milk and other edibles. The log cabin still remains today attached to the rest of the abandoned restaurant. The name itself, as well as the log cabin, both have historical significance. Bronco Charlie Miller was one of the first Pony Express riders and had the distinction of being the youngest, all this at age 11. He rode across the county for about 5 months. Later he settled down in Oakdale and built a log cabin for himself. The log Cabin eventually perished. However, Charlie had another log cabin along Montauk Highway, used as a store. This eventually became a restaurant before becoming abandoned. It has sadly been demolished.
